Meet Crystal Holland

University of Texas - San Antonio
Mechanical Engineering Major

"The Lord has been so good to me."

Crystal Holland’s story is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and perseverance in the face of adversity. As a junior at UTSA studying mechanical engineering, Crystal has overcome numerous challenges to get to where she is today. Her journey began after transitioning from sober living, and she wasted no time starting her work-study job at Roadrunner Recovery, the Collegiate Recovery Center.

Crystal’s compassionate nature is evident in her community service at the Whataburger Resource Room and the on-campus food pantry. She is also an active member of Christians on Campus, where she has grown spiritually and gained a deeper understanding of her faith. Academically,
Crystal has faced her fair share of obstacles, particularly in chemistry. However, she has not let these challenges hold her back, and she has emerged stronger and more resilient. In fact, she earned a B in the course, demonstrating her determination and perseverance.

Crystal’s participation in the STEM Career Expo has given her a glimpse of what the future holds, and she is more excited than ever to pursue her engineering studies and become a member of Women in STEM. Despite
her busy schedule, she still finds time to volunteer at the San Antonio Food Bank, work 15 hours per week at The Recovery Center, and run the Anonymous Birds meeting on Wednesday nights. Crystal always makes time to study and is able to see her son play soccer every weekend. She is grateful for the support she has received from the Chapelwood Foundation, and every day, she is discovering more about the life she deserves.

Her commitment to helping others and her passion for ngineering are truly inspirational. Crystal credits much of her success to the Chapelwood Foundation and her faith in God. She is grateful for the support she has received along the way and is confident that she is on the path to the life she deserves. We are incredibly proud of Crystal’s achievements and the progress she has made on her journey. Her dedication, faith, compassion, and resilience are remarkable. We know that she will continue to achieve great things in the future, and we look forward to watching her make a lasting impact in engineering.
